Industrial heritage and the landscape

Many places in the Bergisch urban triangle reveal traces of a long and fascinating history. Burg Castle, the centre of power in the Middle Ages. Tiny workshops which take you back to the era of early industrialisation when water power from the River Wupper and countless streams laid the foundation for the region’s prosperity. Museums, often on their original factory locations, which document the industrial past in a lively fashion. A viaduct which was once regarded as a technological miracle, and is still an awesome sight today. Historic town centres which invite you to take you a journey into the past. Last not least a quite extraordinary landscape which offered the preconditions for the region to become the “cradle of industry”. Now the landscape links nature and man-made culture in a unique manner.
